I Just Love Christmas!

This afternoon was my absolute deadline to get invitations out for a Christmas Brunch we host every year. I've been working on them for about five days -fifteen minutes here, thirty there, you know the drill. I shouldn’t wait... you’re right... I’ve had months to plan and prepare... I know... but some of us plan for a deadline and others define deadline, ok?! Anyhooo.... I finished and we were getting ready for a road-trip to the Post Office. I don’t know if there’s a secret mom trick I haven’t learned yet to keeping the ones who are ready to go clean, so I usually get the baby changed and dressed last, to avoid confusion, but today, my little five year old took it upon herself to do the honors first.
It was when I first heard the clicking of the shoes on the stone floor that made me go, “hmmm”. Then I just thought they were just playing IN the shoes, but once they rounded the corner, words couldn’t even fly off my tongue and I found myself stuttering. Which was an obvious que because then she blurted out, “Mom, I got her ready to go”. What a sweetheart, huh?!

I know the picture is a little blurry, it was my fault, the chuckles kept escaping my lips. Don't you love those shoes on a mid-December day? And I think those clothes are from like size, 12 months. Too funny!!!

How could you possibly wrap that thoughtfulness up in a neat gift? I just love Christmas!

Holiday Cheer

Christmas anyone? Anyone? Beuller? Am I the only person in America who hasn’t done a stitch of shopping yet? I’ve been holding back, on purpose... and I now know why.

(cue American theme music) These past few months of our country’s economic situation have stirred the dust in my robotic shopping arm, which has unintentionally begun the process of exercising my human shopping practice again. The joy of creating memories that carry through time and can be counted on year after year. To leave thoughtful impressions on our family and friends’ long after the marketing buzz travels toward the next calendar holiday and we’re left with the aftermath of getting everything we want, without wanting (the kind you save up for) what we get. Which leaves me with...

Traditions.

(cue Jingle Bells) So this month we’re focusing on traditions to build the journey, until you know ho ho ho comes tapping on our roof and the climax of this 2008 holiday season is upon us. I better get moving, time is ticking and I’ve so much to prepare for, but man, I can’t wait to hear those giggles from behind bedroom doors as the anticipation nearly eats their sweetness alive!

What have I Done?!

After some research into this whole blogging world, I've realized something....

I'm in waaaay over my head!

What do you mean I need a topic, a commitment, photos, links, books, music....bwaaah.... This was suppose to bring me sanity! Not turn me into a blogging maniac who is sentenced to a life of dizzy websurfing in order to promote the latest, greatest, coolest, uber-ist links on the planet.

---So bear with my baby steps while I get them wet and acquire some representative stuff of Life, As Usual....

Maybe I'll just start with a topic. How about wisecracks and desperation?

cheers~

Shhhh....

The kids are napping and I'm slipping away for a moment.. no Facebook, photo editing, web browsing or video games... not even cleaning, that's what all perfect mothers do while their wee ones sleep, right? I admit, I use to, scrub, scrub, scrub... until the skin was peeling off my fingertips from disinfectants and pine-sol, but I have needs too and I need brainless time to recover from the teaming up of two toddlers who must have realized the value of free entertainment when they see their mom light up with excitement. You know, the kind of excitement one gets when a child plunges one hand in the toaster slot and presses the lever with the other hand - or the garland of tinsel wound up her arm, like a sling, so tight that her hand is starting to tingle (and we can't find the end, therefore surgery is required on that defenseless sparkly garland) - or the five hundred little rubber bands spread across the bathroom floor with one peanut using my mascara wand to collect them all! As if we're at the circus! Well, ok, maybe that feels true sometimes.... touche. So I'm slipping away for a moment to acquire brainless activity and officially kick off my blog. Ha, my blog... that's funny.

All in all, if you must know though, I LOVE being a mom and I know I'll miss these days of their lives when they're grown , but I'm sure there are things I won't miss, things I can't wait to be done with, say, diapers! Ugh.

The Day I Started a Blog!

Well, well, well.. I finally did it. I've been poked and prodded about creating a blog for at least 4 years and I'm breaking down, hiding in a dark corner (hence the black wallpaper) and spilling my platform of beans, in exchange for the possibility of sanity...

So, off we go....

*Disclaimer: I swear to tell the truth, (most of) the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me, Buddy. That's my doG.
